Clint Eastwood hit a major milestone on May 31, 2025, celebrating his 95th birthday, and the Hollywood legend is still going strong. In a recent chat with Austria’s Kurier newspaper, the guy who brought us gritty cowboys and tough-as-nails cops opened up about his life, his love for filmmaking, and why he’s not ready to hang up his director’s hat just yet.

Eastwood, the star of classics like The Good, the Bad and the Ugly and Dirty Harry, has no time for slowing down. “There’s no reason a guy can’t keep getting better with age,” he told Kurier with his trademark confidence. “I’ve got more experience now. Sure, some directors lose their spark, but I’m not one of them.” And he’s backing that up—his latest movie, Juror #2, a legal thriller with Nicholas Hoult, Toni Collette, J.K. Simmons, and Kiefer Sutherland, hit theaters in 2024 and got some serious praise. Oh, and he’s already working on his next film. No big deal.

Looking back on his 70-year career, Eastwood got a bit nostalgic about the “good old days” when screenwriters cooked up original stories like Casablanca in small studio offices. “Now it’s all about remakes and franchises,” he said, shaking his head. Even though he directed sequels like The Enforcer in the Dirty Harry series, his motto is clear: “Do something new or stay home.” That mindset has carried him from Westerns like Unforgiven—which snagged him Oscars for Best Director and Best Picture—to gut-punch dramas like Million Dollar Baby, another Oscar winner.

Eastwood’s got this infectious optimism that’s hard to ignore. “I’m not some deep thinker, but I’ve always believed you get further with a positive attitude,” he said. He remembered being a 25-year-old actor brushed off by producers who thought he’d flop. Spoiler: he didn’t listen, and that stubborn streak turned him into a Hollywood giant who redefined what a cowboy or cop could be.

His personal life’s been as wild as his movies. He’s got eight kids from six partners and two marriages. The recent loss of his longtime girlfriend, Christina Sandera, who passed away in July 2024 at 61 from a heart attack, hit him hard. But Eastwood’s keeping his focus on work, and don’t expect a big birthday bash—he’s never been one for that. Back in 2019, he told Ellen DeGeneres about hanging out with his 90-something grandfather as a kid, thinking, “Who the heck wants to live that long?” Now at 95, he’s living it with a grin and a new project.

To celebrate, Austria’s ORF is rolling out a special lineup starting May 29, 2025, with films like The Mule, Million Dollar Baby, and American Sniper, plus a documentary called Clint Eastwood – The Last of His Kind. It dives into his 73 acting roles, 45 directing gigs, and how he’s always pushed boundaries while tackling America’s tougher themes.

Sporting a bushy white beard and still hustling around Warner Bros. studios, Eastwood’s not just a legend—he’s a guy who proves age is just a number. Here’s to 95 years of Clint Eastwood, still kicking butt and making movies that hit us right in the feels.
